This explosive grunge reflection from The Smashing Pumpkins' landmark second album Siamese Dream builds from soft to loud with grace and poignancy in the instrumental intro. As the distorted guitar erupts like a volcano, evoking a fuzzy blanket of melanchoic bliss, frontman Billy Corgan sings about following your dreams: “Fool enough to almost be it / Cool enough to not quite see it,” he offers with cool resolve. He makes a forward-thinking reference to mental health in the bridge, specifically depression, singing: "We'll try and ease the pain / But somehow, we'll feel the same / Well, no one knows / Where our secrets go," before addressing his fans in the second verse, extending his solidarity to anyone experiencing depression. With hallowed Nevermind producer Butch Vig carrying that blustering rock sound to the finish line, Siamese Dream became one of the greatest alt-rock albums of the '90s, and, some might say, of all time.
