"Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" may be one of the best festive protest songs ever made; an anti-war anthem that regularly tops the best-seller list conceived by two of the world's biggest cultural figures. Released at the height of the Vietnam War as a single in 1971 by John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir and produced by Phil Spector, the song calls for a "happy New Year... Without any fear" with the lines "War is over, if you want it / War is over, now" being sung by Yoko Ono and the choir in the track's haunting outro. "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" was the seventh non-Beatles single to be released by John Lennon, who just two years before in December 1969, co-staged the now-iconic picture of himself with Yoko Ono in which they proclaimed a "War is Over!" message plastered on billboards and posters around the world. "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)," which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021, peaked at Number 2 in 1980, following the tragic death of John Lennon on December 8, 1980.

I just heard this song done by Sarah McLachlan. It's the prettiest version I've heard yet. I'd love to be able to get that one from you! Keep up the good work!
