World-famous girl group The Emotions had already scored a Gold-certified album with 1976 album offering Flowers – which flourished at number five on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at number 45 on the Billboard 200 – when they released LP single, "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love." Pulled along by Verdine White's intoxicating bassline and bright, playful horns, the group went to number 13 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and number four on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart with this funky R&B gem in 1976. Nearly twenty years later, the song was sampled by Scottish indie kings Primal Scream on "Loaded" – featured on their landmark 1991 album Screamadelica – and by Christina Milan featuring rapid-fire rapper Twista on her 2005 track "For Real". "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" was also given a new lease of life by US jazz singer Maysa on her 2007 album Feel the Fire.
