Any self-respecting covers band whose remit is female-fronted classics is practically compelled by law to take on "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Comedy music troupe The Dan Band had a simple USP: add swear words to pop songs performed by female musicians. Their simple yet cunning concept paid off – The Dan Band's expletive-enhanced update of Bonnie Tyler's power ballad megalith – her signature hit and widely considered one of the best songs of the '80s – earned them a place in '00s Hollywood history, with the group – led by actor and comedy Dan Finnerty – scoring a now-iconic spot in canonical 2003 comedy Old School, where they step in to perform the profanity-spiked track at the wedding of Frank and Marissa. Two years later, The Dan Band made it official on their full-length debut, Dan Band Live – released on the USA Side 1 Dummy label in April 2005 – which was followed the next year by a Christmas album called Ho.
