Brian Setzer has always carved his own musical path. The Long Island native formed the Stray Cats, a trio that introduced the early MTV audiences to rockabilly with hits like "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town." Later the talented singer/guitarist found success with The Brian Setzer Orchestra, a 17-piece big band. He won a Grammy for his cover of Louis Prima's "Jump Jive an' Wail" on his third album, The Dirty Boogie. The album also contains "As Long as I'm Singin'," a song written and recorded by Bobby Darin. "As long as I'm singing / Then the world's all right / And everything's swinging / Long as I'm singing my song." While Setzer continues to be influenced by music from the 50s, there's nothing that sounds like imitation in his recordings. His punk club pedigree can be heard in everything he does. It's a unique fusion of recklessness and joy.
