Many might remember the Bee Gees disco classic "You Should Be Dancing" from the soundtrack of the iconic 1977 film Saturday Night Fever, but the track was actually released a year earlier as the lead single from their fourteenth album, Children of the World (1976). Written by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, "You Should Be Dancing" marked the beginning of the Bee Gees' experiments with disco music. The track was the group's first chart-topping single to feature Barry Gibb's trademark falsetto vocal style and their first and last Number 1 hit on the US dance charts. It also spent one week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the Top 10 in the UK, Sweden, Ireland, and Italy. Almost a year after its release, "You Should Be Dancing" experienced a surge in popularity after being included in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack alongside other five tracks by the group. In the decades that followed, the disco classic was covered by artists like E. Sensual, Blockster, and the cast of Glee.
