Released as the lead single from The Beatles' fifth studio album and 1965 Richard Lester-direction musical comedy-adventure film of the same name, "Help!" rocketed to the top of the charts all over the world, appearing at a pivotal point in The Fab Four's career. As John Lennon sings the opening verse ("When I was younger so much younger than today / I never needed anybody’s help in any way / But now these days are gone, I’m not so self-assured / Now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors") it becomes apparent that this is a cry for help, drawn from the pen of a man consumed by fame. Credited to the powerhouse songwriting duo of Lennon–McCartney, "Help!" hit number one on both the UK and US singles charts in late summer 1965, also picking up four Grammy Award nominations in 1966. In 2008, "Help!" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and the song has endured as one of The Beatles' best-loved gems.
