"Waiting for My Ruca" is a song from the Southern California ska-punk band Sublime. The song is from the band's debut album 40 oz. to Freedom. The trio, consisting of Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, had a strong local following but only achieved mainstream success after their third album, released two months after Nowell’s death from a drug overdose. The band's sound reflected their many influences from punk, dancehall, ska, heavy metal, and rap. "Waiting for My Ruca" contains elements of many of those influences. The vocal is sung over a drum machine with added samples, scratching, and barking from the band's dog and mascott Lou Dog. The dalmatian was featured on T-shirts and other promotional merchandise and often wandered on stage at concerts. Sublime wasn't active for very long but their legacy lives on.
