The late, legendary bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan muses on 'life without you' in this searing elegy to his good friend and mentor Charley Wirz, a guitar repairman in Dallas who serviced some of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitars early in his career (notably the white Stratocaster that was fitted with Danelectro Lipstick Tube Pickups). "Well, hello baby / Tell me how have you been? / We all have missed you / And the way you grin / The day is necessary / Every now and then /For souls to move on / Given life back again / Fly on, fly on / Fly on my friend / Go on, live again /Love again," he sings poignantly, wringing every drop of emotion from his voice. Offering up a soul-stirring guitar solo to see the tune out with a bang, this vulnerable, raw and loving jam is one of Stevie Ray Vaughan's most essential tracks, performed by a true musical luminary who was also sadly taken too soon.
