"Baker Street" hitmaker Gerry Rafferty penned this gold-tinted groover with fellow Scot Joe Egan and brought it off the page in 1973 via their band Stealers Wheel, who formed in Paisley, Scotland the previous year and was comprised of the aforementioned school pals. "Stuck in the Middle with You" (which is sometimes known simply as "Stuck in the Middle,") opens with handclaps and jangly folk-rock guitar before launching into the first verse: "Well, I don't know why I came here tonight / I got the feeling that something ain't right / I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair / And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs." "Stuck in the Middle With You" hit Number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Number 8 on the UK Singles Chart in 1973 and won over a whole new generation of culture vultures nearly twenty years later when it was used to soundtrack a hyper-violent scene in Quentin Tarantino's 1992 celebrated debut film Reservoir Dogs.
