Perhaps one of the best-known Christmas songs of all time, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" first appeared in the 1966 animated TV special Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel and composer Albert Hague, the track is a detailed description of the Grinch, the story's main antagonist. It was originally performed by American actor and bass singer Thurl Ravenscroft. Ever since it aired for the first time in 1966, the TV special became a holiday pop culture landmark, with its soundtrack winning Best Album for Children at the 1968 10th Grammy Awards. In the decades that followed, the iconic song was sung by Jim Carrey in the 2000 live-action version of the film and by American rapper Tyler, the Creator in its 2018 CGI adaptation. Additionally, the York, Pennsylvania trio Small Town Titans released a high-octane version of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" as a non-album single in 2017.
