Pop-rocking teen idol Shaun Cassidy put his clean-cut stamp on this top five hit for girl group icons The Crystals, "Da Doo Ron Ron," in 1977, taking it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and kickstarting his career with his first self-titled solo LP. Written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector – who showcased his Wall of Sound technique on the song – the Crystals went to number three on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time of the song's release and it remains one of their calling cards. This perfect pop pick has also been covered by multiple artists over the years, including Dutch singer Anneke Grönloh, who recorded the song in Dutch as "Da Doe Ron Ron" and in 1963 and in Malayan, The Ikettes, who included their interpertation of the song on their 1966 Soul the Hits album, Bette Midler, who included her version on her 1973 self-titled album, as well as The Carpenters, 10cc, Tina Arena and many more names.

Just as with "That's Rock and Roll", I've never found another version of the Shaun Cassidy version of this song. Great sound, so glad it came out.
