Biblical Mississippi rockers Saving Abel were formed in 2004 by Jared Weeks and Jason Null and, after bringing in additional band members – rhythm guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Daniel Dwight, and drummer Blake Dixon – unleashed their debut self-titled album in 2008, which went to number 49 on the Billboard 200. They fared even better with their second album Miss America, which debuted at number 24 on the same chart. Released in 2010 and weaving Auto-Tune into its sound, the album was dedicated to American soldiers serving overseas and featured a blonde woman adorned in a risqué American flag-styled dress on the cover. Southern-drenched rocker "The Sex Is Good" served as Miss America's second single; a takedown of the shallower things in life and the apparent lack of meaning in the spectrum of human experience ("I have to fake it / I leave if I could / I'm not in love / But the sex is good").
