A gentle, mellowed-out sensibility pervades “Loving Arms,” a 1973 track by the former country singer, songwriter, and actor Kris Kristofferson and his then-wife, the two-time Grammy winner Rita Coolidge. The "Me and Bobby McGee" hit-maker and James Bond theme tune singer opt for a floaty acoustic duet to express their yearning. The pair blend their voices together beautifully for the bucolic chorus: "I've been too long in the wind, too long in the rain / Takin' any comfort that I can / Lookin' back and longin' for the freedom of my chains / Lyin' in your lovin' arms again." "Loving Arms" was penned by Tom Jans and featured on Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge's 1973 duet album Full Moon. The album kicked off a trilogy of duet albums from the real-life couple, with the successor Breakaway following in 1974, released via Monument Records, and the final 1978 offering Natural Act preceding the couple's divorce in 1979.
