You may not have thought the UK star would be penning songs about AI in the year 2023, but stranger things have happened. Rick Astley was moved to write "Never Gonna Stop" (no relation to the aforementioned hit "Never Gonna Give You Up") after reading an article about AI. Here, he seeks to question its ability to evolve without consequence, unlike that of human beings. "Tell me this life has a meaning / Is it written in all our scars," he pleads in the pre-chorus, his voice sounding warm and organic rather than cold and robotic. "Never Gonna Stop" is taken from Rick Astley's ninth studio album Are We There Yet? which marked his first set of original songs since 2018's Beautiful Life.
