"Whiskey on You" is the major-label debut by American country singer Nate Smith, who had previously gone viral on social media in 2021 with his song "Wildfire." Released on June 27, 2022, as the lead single from his first self-titled studio album, "Whiskey on You" was written by Nate Smith with Russell Sutton and Lindsay Rimes during a songwriting retreat. Even though the singer laid down the instrumental track in a proper recording studio, he ended up using the vocals from an early demo recorded in the kitchen of music executive Jim Catino.
