On "Mama", lead singer Gerard Way holds the listener hostage the second he opens his mouth, and the band thrash around his voice with all the theatrical emo-punk energy that My Chemical Romance are famed for. This grim, hard-hitting track paints the picture of a soldier who, staring death in the face, is ready for hell. However, he just has one last wish; to fix his fractured relationship with his mother. He admits that he "could have been a better son" and harshly confesses, "But there's shit that I've done with this fuck of a gun / You would cry out your eyes all along". However, as the song progresses, the titular "Mama" veers off into abstract territory. Is "Mama" in fact the Mother War who dropped into the band's "Welcome to the Black Parade" video? "Mama" is quite fittingly featured on the emo heroes' third studio album,The Black Parade, (2006) which took the form of a drama-drenched rock opera and reached number two on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart.
