Opening with the revving of a motorbike that conveys the theme of the song, "Speed Demon" is a funk-filled rocker about burning rubber that's one of the more understated songs on Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad. As the track's origin story famously goes, the late star was on his way to the studio when he was pulled over and issued a ticket for speeding. His trusted producer Quincy Jones, with whom he had also released landmark albums Off the Wall and Thriller – scoring 17 Top 10 hits – told him to put his experience into song and "Speed Demon" was born.
