"Hangar 18" is a song by Megadeth from their Rust in Peace album. The song, written by frontman Dave Mustaine, is about Hangar 18 at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Dayton, Ohio where some believe alien bodies were taken after a 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico. "'Hangar 18' is about military intelligence – two words combined that don't make sense," he said, "I can't understand why they're hiding stuff from us. It's our country, too." The song features Mustaine's signature guitar playing that earned him the #1 spot in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists. "Hanger 18" was nominated for the Best Metal Performance Grammy but lost to Mustaine's former band, Metallica. The notorious bad boy of thrash metal now lives in Nashville with his wife of 25 years. His daughter Electra is pursuing a career in country music.
The backing track for "Hangar 18" is available as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
