"Naughty" is a song from the 2011 stage musical Matilda The Musical, based on the 1988 children's novel Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was composed by British-American comedian and musician Tim Minchin and performed by child actors Adrianna Bertola, Josie Griffiths, and Kerry Ingram, all of whom played the main character in the show's 2010 RSC Stratford production. As the musical's first solo number, "Naughty" introduces the audience to the character of Matilda Wormwood, a book-loving precocious five and a half year old girl who is largely neglected by her family. Through a series of metaphors, the young Matilda emphasizes how everyone can take control of their own circumstances by breaking the mold and being a little mischievous. In the original production, the song plays right after Matilda turns his father's hair green after slipping some hydrogen peroxide into his hair tonic, and is reprised two mores times throughout the show.
