"Ain't Nobody Here but Us Chickens" was originally created by Alex Kramer and Joan Whitney in 1946 and Louis Jordan—with his Tympany Five rhythm and blues and jazz dance band in tow—took the swinging song all the way to the top of the US Billboard Rhythm and blues Juke Box chart where it hung around seventeen weeks. It also was catapulted to number six on the pop chart while the B-side, "Let the Good Times Roll," seized the number two spot R&B Juke Box chart. "Ain't Nobody Here but Us Chickens" immortalised the sarcastic retort/phrase "nobody here but us chickens" on wax and was later given a new lease of life by DJ Premier whose remix of the song was featured on the 2011 soundtrack for action-adventure video game L.A.
