In 1997, country pop star and Grand Ole Opry member Lorrie Morgan (born Loretta Lynn Morgan in Nashville, Tennessee) revisited a trailblazing classic and more than did it justice with her spellbinding rendition of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow." Its supposedly racy lyrics about a one-night stand set tongues wagging in 1960 when The Shirelles sang the song and shook things up, making history as the first all-Black female group to reach the summit of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The controversial connotations may have diminished over the years but this Gerry Goffin and Carole King creation has not lost any of its appeal. For her soaring version of this 1960s Brill Building gem, Lorrie Morgan proves that her voice can stand tall on its own. She kept the cover in fine company on her Shakin' Things Up album of 1997, which also spawned a top ten hit in "Go Away," and a top 20 hit in "One of Those Nights Tonight" while also boasting her first co-production credit.
