Officially released on October 23, 2006, the track features rapper Lil Wayne and production by Big Reese and Jasper Cameron. "You" also features an interpolation of the 1983 hit single "True" by Spandau Ballet, who received songwriting credits. According to Lloyd, the song was purposefully leaked to Atlanta radio stations before its release date to receive more airplay. Lyrically speaking, "You" finds Lloyd and Lil Wayne trading verses about giving up their uncompromising sexual lifestyle to settle down with the right girl. It represented a massive commercial success for the R&B singer, reaching the top of Billboard's R&B and Rhythmic charts, and peaking at Number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
