“Carmelita,” a striking cover of the 1976 country rocker by Warren Zevon, is weirdly charming in a way that fits Linda Ronstadt. Along with the hint of mariachi music, there are the Los Angeles references, from Ensenada and Echo Park (where Warren Zevon lived) to "the Pioneer Chicken stand" on "Alvarado Street", which give the song a golden-baked Californian feel.
