The country music standard "Your Cheatin' Heart" was first written and recorded by legendary country artist Hank Williams in 1952. Drawing inspiration from his failed marriage with musician Audrey Sheppard, Hank Williams dictated the lyrics of "Your Cheatin' Heart" to his new fianceé Billie Jean Jones while driving from Nashville, Tennessee, to Shreveport, Louisiana. Released a few days after Hank Williams' death in January 1953, the song stayed atop Billboard's Country & Western chart for six consecutive weeks and sold over a million copies. Over the following decades, "Your Cheatin' Heart" became one of Hank Williams' signature songs and was covered by multiple artists, including Joni James, Frankie Laine, Ray Charles, and Patsy Cline. In 1999, country singer-songwriter LeAnn Rimes released her eponymous fourth album, which featured a version of "Your Cheatin' Heart" as well as a series of covers of Willie Nelson, Marty Robbins, and Hank Cochran.
