The funk-infused empowerment anthem "Big Energy" was released on September 24, 2021, as the first single from American rapper Latto's sophomore album 777. Written by the rapper with A1 LaFlare, Jaucquez Lowe, Randall Hammers, Theron Thomas, and producers Lukasz Gottwald and Vaughn Oliver, the song also credits Adrian Belew, Chris Frantz, Steven Stanley, and Tina Weymouth due to its use of Tom Tom Club's 1981 hit single "Genius of Love." Prior to its official release, Latto premiered "Big Energy" and two other previously unreleased songs at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. Soon after, the track became Latto's biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at Number 11. It also entered the charts in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, where it reached the Top 20. A remix featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled appeared on March 28, 2022, which interpolated the singing diva's 1995 hit, "Fantasy."
