Make some room for Ace Frehley's hair-curling guitar solo on "Shock Me." Featured on ther 1977 album Love Gun, the track was written by Kiss's lead guitarist, Ace Frehley, who also pulled back the curtains on his powerful voice, performing vocals for the first time on this track. "Shock Me"'s chorus ("Shock me (Make me feel better) / Shock me (Put on your black leather) / Shock me (We can come together)") took on a profoundly strange – and terrifying – new meaning on December 12, 1976 when Kiss, who were performing live at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland, Florida, experienced a serious case of art imitating life. During the opening track, Ace Frehley was nearly electrocuted when he touched a metal staircase railing, which was ungrounded, and was thrown to the ground. Thankfully he lived to tell the tale, but what happened that night will be forever etched in sacred Kiss lore.
