Written by the legendary Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and featured on his classic 1970 album Moondance (and also on his 1974 live album, It’s Too Late to Stop Now,) "Into the Mystic" dives deep into the story of a sailor at sea yearning for his lover, aided by atmospheric foghorn flourishes and gorgeous acoustic balladry ("And when that foghorn blows / I will be coming home, mmhmm hmm / And when the foghorn blows / I want to hear it / I don't have to fear it"). The track was smoothed over by Joe Cocker and his unique rusty pipes for his fifteenth studio album Organic (released in October 1996), which also featured reimaginings of Bob Dylan's "Dignity" and Stevie Wonder's "You And I" as well as fresh takes of some of the late award-winning blues-friendly singer's own tunes: "You Are So Beautiful," "Delta Lady" and "Many Rivers To Cross."
