Island-loving, flip-flop-wearing singer-songwriter, businessman and brand Jimmy Buffett is no slacker; he is one of the world's richest musicians with around $900 million to his name as of 2017. Although he started his career as a country artist in the late '60s, he began incorporating elements of calypso, rock, folk and pop into his endeavours to concoct a tropical rock punch that has been his trademark sound ever since. His cover of "Jamaica Farewell" (live) is one of many tropical-flavoured trips on his 1990 live album Feeding Frenzy, a Jamaican-style mento song with lyrics originally written by Lord Burgess (Irving Burgie), an American-born, half-Barbadian songwriter who celebrates the wonder of the song's namesake.Jimmy Buffett's five-decade career has endured until the '10s; in 2015 he dropped into Jurassic World armed with two margaritas while in 2019 he had an extended cameo playing himself in the Harmony Korine film The Beach Bum.

Heard this song on the Jimmy Buffet channel on SiriusXM; I always loved the song, but wanted something updated from the original by Harry Belafonte. I doubted I'd find this Jimmy version, but KV had it! I think it's a great version; it's the live version, but it thankfully it doesn't include the crowd noise!!
