A riot of fiddles and multi-vocal harmonies, "Rattlin' Bog" is the Irish Descendants' take on a traditional Irish folk song and drinking game. For the uninitiated, rattlin' means "splendid" in the context of this song, but the oral nature of folk tradition leaves plenty of room for lyrical ambiguity. Folkies the Irish Descendants – a Newfoundland band, who have been flying the flag for Newfoundland music since the early '90s and were even chosen to perform for the Queen – recorded and performed their version in 2005 and included the track on their album Newfoundland Drinking Songs. Over the years, "Rattlin' Bog" has been revisited and recycled by plenty of artists, including Australian children's group The Wiggles – who performed the song on their 2019 album Party Time!. A Scottish version of the song can also be heard on the soundtrack for cult 1973 folk-horror film The Wicker Man.
