"Il Mondo" is a song by Italian opera pop group Il Volo, included in their 2010 self-titled debut album. It was written by Carlo Pes, Lilli Greco, Gianni Meccia, and Jimmy Fontana, who recorded it for the first time in April 1965. Though faithful to the original, Il Volo's rendition adds an extra layer of drama through the group's trademark operatic vocals. Its poignant yet hopeful lyrics suggest that, despite the existence of heartbreak and the end of relationships, life still goes on. Despite not having been released as a single, Il Volo's take on "Il Mondo" propelled their self-titled LP to the top of the Billboard Classical Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts. Notably, Jimmy Fontana's version featured orchestral arrangements by Italian composer and musical conductor Ennio Morricone, premiering at the 1965 edition of the Un disco per l'estate festival. Shortly after its release, "Il Mondo" quickly climbed the Italian charts, staying at number 1 for four weeks between July and October 1965, marking a new height in popularity in Jimmy Fontana's career.
