Hozier takes a leaf out of Dante's book to explore gluttony and heresy aka two of the nine circles of hell from his canonical 14th-century text Inferno. The politically charged screed "Eat Your Young" doubles up as a condemnation of war and greed, as the popular Irish artist — real name Andrew John Hozier-Byrne — rails against "skinnin' the children for a war drum" and "puttin' food on the table sellin' bombs and guns", his falsetto voice rising above the silken orchestral pop soundtrack. "Eat Your Young" was accompanied by an eye-popping conceptual theatre piece, written by Hozier and co-starring actress Ivanna Sakhno. The visual comprised two simultaneous stages—one for adults and one for children—while a music video also brought the concept to life. "Eat Your Young" was featured on Hozier's Unreal Unearth EP of August 2023, which also contains "All Things End" and Through Me (The Flood).
