Hardy's woken up with "bloodshot eyes" on "the wrong side of the truck bed" and he's in trouble with his girlfriend. "I used that empty bag of corn to rest my head / A camo jacket for a blanket then passed out like I was dead," he confesses, conjuring a vivid image of his drunkenness over a backdrop of tough country-rock. "Truck Bed" is a drinking song studded with Hardy's trademark rock 'n' roll meets nu-metal energy. Co-written with Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and Hunter Phelps, "Truck Bed" was one of a slew of singles released from Hardy's 2023 double album for Big Loud Records, the Mockingbird & the Crow, which debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200, giving him his highest-charting album to date. The LP was propelled by the success of lead single "Wait in the Truck," a duet with country star Lainey Wilson that took the form of a harrowing murder ballad about domestic abuse. The album also included a contribution from Morgan Wallen.
