Following a tense tussle between Halsey and their label Capitol Music Group, who refused to release "So Good" without a viral TikTok campaign attached to it, this catchy pop bop was finally unleashed into the world as a single in 2022. Produced by Tobias Karlsson along with pop production magician Max Martin, the song is based on Halsey's long-term love story with Turkish-American screenwriter Alev Aydin, who both directed and co-stars in "So Good's" horror-themed music video. “When you left, I bet you held her body closer / And I was hoping you would tell her it was over / You’re all I think about in every way I look / I know it’s bad, but we could be so good," sings the pop provocateur in the dizzying chorus. Halsey performed "So Good" live for the first time at the 2022 Governors Ball Music Festival, an annual multi-day music festival held in New York City.
