Composed by Warren Zevon, LeRoy Marinell and Waddy Wachtel, quirky rock jam "Werewolves of London" is one of the former's best-known tracks, featured on his third solo album, Excitable Boy, and his only Top 40 US hit, clawing its way to Number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. "I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand / Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain / He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fook's / Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein, / You hear him howling around your kitchen door / You better not let him in / Little old lady got mutilated late last night / Werewolves of London again," he sings on a song which was thrust back into the spotlight a decade later after it appeared in 1986 American sports drama film The Color of Money, where Tom Cruise can be seen dancing and lip-syncing to the tongue-in-cheek track, which featured drumming from Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood and bass from John McVie.
