On the title track of their colossal return-to-form album Saviors, Green Day boldly stake their claim to rock's fountain of eternal agitators. “We are the last of the rockers / Making a commotion,” they sing like the wise, yet world-weary punks that they are. 30 years after their landmark, voice-of-a-generation album Dookie and 20 years on from their mainstream masterstroke American Idiot, Green Day show no signs of slowing down. Their fourteenth album Saviors (2024) finds the band in their element, raring to go with a spring in their step. As the LP's focal point, "Saviors," encapsulates this joie de vivre. "Saviors," which was recorded in London and produced by Rob Cavallo (like the rest of the album), embodies the political spirit of the LP to ask: "Will somebody save us tonight?" Meanwhile, Saviors marked the final stop in an album trilogy that began with 1994’s Dookie and 2004’s American Idiot.
