"If You Could Read My Mind" is a song by Canadian folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot. Shortly after parting ways with former label United Artists due to a lack of support, he signed a record deal with Warner Bros Records and released his sixth album Sit Down Young Stranger in 1970. Despite being considered a commercial flop upon its release, the LP featured the plaintive folk ballad "If You Could Read My Mind," a reflection on his recent divorce from his first wife Brita Ingegerd Olaisson. Thanks to the success of the single, which became his first international hit after reaching the top of Billboard's Easy Listening chart, the album was reissued under the name If You Could Read My Mind and peaked at Number 12 on the Billboard 200. In 1987, the song was the subject of a legal dispute between Gordon Lightfoot and Michael Masser, the composer behind Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All."

I like the track, it's nice and full, but if you listen carefully in the original recording there's actually a second part sung over his lead vocal in the last two verses, I'm not sure if it's him double tracking himself or another person. All in all, it's a very good back round track. At least it's not dentist office Muzac.
