Their second album Hang-Ups (1997) delved deeper into the horns-brightened sound of ska punk and “Superman” is its opening track, channeling the high-flying power of the caped superhero while the protagonist 'feels like the world's falling down around him'. This upbeat, high-energy marriage of pop-punk and ska-punk made its way onto the 1996 sports comedy classic Kingpin and 1998 offbeat comedy Meet the Deedles, but ultimately reached a wider audience two years after its release thanks to its inclusion on the "Tony Hawk Pro Skater" video game soundtrack, becoming an integral part of the game's mythology. In 2022, the skateboarding legend turned his hand to a cover of "Goldfinger," performing the song live on stage in London with covers band The 900.
