The cast of Glee covered "Jingle Bell Rock” on Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album, Volume 3. Chord Overstreet as the character Sam Evans provides the lead vocal on what has been called the very first rock & roll Christmas song. "Jingle Bell Rock” was first recorded by Bobby Helms. The song was released only two days before Christmas of 1957 but still managed to make it up to #6 on the charts. When it was released the following year, it hit #1 and has been played every Christmas since. The popular GLEE TV series sold over 11 million albums and launched the careers of many in the cast. Overstreet is the son of one of country music's most successful songwriters.
