Downtown - Frank Sinatra - MP3 instrumental karaoke

Frank Sinatra recorded a version of "Downtown" for his album Strangers in the Night. It's one of two pop songs he included on the album, written by Tony Hatch and first released by Petula Clark. The second Hatch composition is "Call Me," also a hit for Chris Montez. The album was Sinatra's last one working with his long-time arranger Nelson Riddle. "Downtown" had been a huge international hit for Petula Clark. Sinatra sang it with a bit of playfulness. When he and his daughter, Nancy, performed the song for a TV special, he laughed as he added those little eh's before singing the song's title. While he may have been joking around a bit, he seriously swung his way through the ultra-cool Latin and Jazz segues of the arrangement. The album includes two of Sinatra's best-known hits: "Strangers in the Night" and "Summer Wind."
