Aside from the ticking metronome which imbues the song with a hypnotic edge, Stranger Things Have Happened is classic Foo Fighters; an intense exercise in emotional tension that lulls you in before spitting you out. The 2007 acoustic-led track explores themes of isolation, depression, and acceptance, and what it means to feel comfortable being alone. Dave Grohl's delivery is vulnerable one moment and confident the next, toggling between existential despair and hope ("You are not alone, dear loneliness / You forgot, but I remember this"). Stranger Things Have Happened was featured on the band's 2007 LP Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, their sixth album and first with producer Gil Norton following their second, 1997's career-defining landmark The Colour and the Shape. Along with spawning notable singles in "The Pretender", "Long Road to Ruin" and "Let It Die", the LP was nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning Best Rock Album.
