After rising to fame with Gram Parsons on the seminal country-rock albums GP (1973) and Grievous Angel (1974), American singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris went on to build an outstanding music catalog comprised of 26 studio albums and several collaborations with artists like Dolly Parton, Linda Rondstadt, and the Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler. In 2013, the Alabama native joined forces with country singer Rodney Crowell, with whom she had worked previously, on the duets album Old Yellow Moon. A collection of covers and originals, it reached Number 4 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and Number 3 on the American folk charts. "Invitation to the Blues," the album's second track, was originally written by country musician Roger Miller and popularized by Ray Price in 1958. Since its release back in the late 1950s, the song has also been covered by Tom Waits, Jennifer Warnes, and Willie Nelson.
