Elvis Presley is undoubtedly one of the greatest performers in the history of rock and roll, and his influence can still be felt far and wide throughout the pop culture landscape. His song catalog is so wide, vast, and varied, that not every song gets the attention it deserves. A great example of this is Three Corn Patches,” a deep cut written by the songwriting duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. This duo is famous for having penned many of Elvis Presley’s most enduring songs, such as Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock.” And while Three Corn Patches may not be as famous as those, it’s notable for being the last song by the songwriting duo that was recorded by Elvis. Three Corn Patches was first recorded by T-Bone Walker and released in his 1972 album, Very Rare. Shortly after that, Elvis Presley recorded his version for his nineteenth studio album Raised on Rock / For Ol’ Times Sake (1973). The song features guitar playing by frequent Elvis collaborator Reggie Young.
