Drake Milligan's worldly-wise country croon belies his young years, but it's precisely the reason he was picked to portray Elvis Presley on the CMT series Sun Records, following his years as an Elvis impersonator. An appearance on American Idol followed in 2018 before he kicked his own country singing career into gear with his first release. Co-written with Brandon Hood (Rascal Flatts, Shane Filan), "Don't Look Down" marked some of his first solo material and depicts a flourishing portrait of the first flush of new love. The track sees him wrap his deep southern twang around romantic lines ("On the edge of this dance floor / On top of the world / In love with the rhythm of holdin' you girl") and retro imagery ("That jukebox is all we need / To keep defying gravity") for a stunning introduction to his songcraft. "Don't Look Down" was featured on his self-titled debut EP for BBR Music Group, which was released in summer 2021 and whet the appetite for his debut album, Dallas/Fort Worth, which landed the following year.
