Released by Mute Records in January 1983 as a single with "The Great Outdoors!" (written by Alan Wilder and Martin Core) on the flipside, "Get the Balance Right" shows Depeche Mode in all their synth-pop finery as they cast another spell through a bewitching mix of lyricism and sparkling goth tones. Written by Martin Core "Get the Balance Right" was one of the band's first songs to introduce guitar, and was released early on in the Basildon group's world-conquering career. The track was contained on their third album, Construction Time Again, which was the follow-up to 1982's A Broken Frame and became their first studio album to feature Alan Wilder, who penned the songs "Two Minute Warning" and "The Landscape Is Changing." The politically minded, sample-strewn LP also heralded the start of Depeche Mode's experiments with industrial music, folding elements of this into their haunting pop.
