"Love Me in a Special Way" is a song by the R&B sibling group DeBarge. This beautiful ballad was written, produced, and arranged by lead singer El DeBarge. The song opens with a gospel-influenced keyboard intro and features El's expressive falsetto, sibling harmonies, and a harmonica solo from labelmate Stevie Wonder. Several members of DeBarge have struggled with drug abuse issues. After years of addiction and prison, El is now sober and says he no longer has an interest in doing drugs. He's been touring and recording new music, and yes, he can still hit those high notes.
