From 'tearing the stars down from the sky' to being 'a beggar or knave,' there's very little Dean Martin won't do for his lover on "Until the Real Thing Comes Along." "I'd gladly move the earth for you / To prove my love dear and it's worth to you / If that isn't love, it'll have to do / Until the real things comes along," he proudly belts out on this popular '30s-era tune. Originally written by Alberta Nichols and Mann Holiner in 1931 under the name "Till the Real Thing Comes Along," and featured in Broadway revue Rhapsody in Black, Dean Martin recorded his version of "Until the Real Thing Comes Along" for his 1960 Capitol Records album, This Time I'm Swingin'! arranged by Nelson Riddle and featuring an array of horns-brightened songs, including two lifted from My Fair Lady, "On the Street Where You Live" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," as well a solo rendition of his previous duet with Judy Holliday, "Just in Time."
