"Fix You" feels like a snapshot of another era. Released in 2005—two years after Chris Martin married his now ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow—the hopeful song was created by the former to comfort the latter following the death of her father, television director Bruce Paltrow. It became one of Coldplay's biggest success stories and signature tunes. The track enjoyed its fair share of small-screen stardom, debuting in an episode of The O.C. called "The O Sea" and featured in a multitude of television shows, including Without a Trace, Cold Case, Brothers & Sisters, Looking for Alaska, The Newsroom, Money Heist, and more. "Fix You" was the centrepiece of the band's dynamic third studio album X&Ym, which was produced by Coldplay and producer Danton Supple and yielded the singles "Speed of Sound," "Talk," and "The Hardest Part," along with "Fix You."
