Steered by vocalist Benoît Poher, award-winning French troupe Kyo formed in Yvelines in 1997 and lit up the alternative rock scene with three albums during the early 2000s: their self-titled 2000 debut, second album Le Chemin (2003)—which went to number two in France—and third album 300 Lésions, (2004) plus a slew of singles. They decided to go on hiatus in 2005 but in 2013 staged a comeback of epic proportions, restoring their rightful place in the upper reaches of the French charts with their comeback album L'équilibre, which reached number two. Still flying high in 2023, they celebrated 20 years of their hit 2003 single "Dernière danse"—originally one of four top 20 singles from Le Chemin, along with the title track—with a bittersweet remix, bolstered by additional vocals from Quebec-born singer-songwriter and pianist Cœur de Pirate that turn the song into a soaring pop-rock triumph.
