Since their debut in the early 1990s, the Maryland alternative rock combo Clutch built a significant following through a non-stop touring schedule and a series of critically acclaimed releases that flirted with genres like funk and metal. In 2006, the band entered the studio with producer Joe Barresi, known for his work with The Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, and Coheed and Cambria, to start working on their eighth full-length, From Beale Street to Oblivion. Based on both Mississippi Fred McDowell's blues standard "Fred's Worried Life Blues" and John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom," lead single "Electric Worry" was released in early 2007 and debuted at Number 38 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock charts. In the following years, the track went on to become one of Clutch's signature songs and was re-recorded in 2019 for their compilation of previously unreleased material, The Weathermaker Vault Series, Volume 1 (2020).
